Hugh Jackman has shared a health update with fans and reveals he has been tested for skin cancer once again.

In a video shared to social media, the Wolverine actor told viewers his doctor had spotted “little things” on his skin that were being investigated further with biopsies.

The caption read: “You’ve heard me talk about my basal cell carcinomas before. And I’m going to keep talking about them, if need be. If just one person remembers to put on sunscreen with a high SPF, I’m happy.”

In the clip, Jackman, who was wearing a plaster on his nose, explained he wanted followers to know what was happening in case “someone sees me on the street”.

He continued: “I’ve just had two biopsies done, I just went to my doctor, Dr Iron, who’s awesome, and she just saw little things. Could be or could not be basal cell in her opinion, she doesn’t know. I’ll find out in two or three days and as soon as I know, I’ll let you know.

“Just to remind you, basal cell in the world of skin cancers is the least dangerous of them all. However, if I can just take this opportunity to remind you, summer is coming.

“For those of us here in the Northern Hemisphere, please wear sunscreen, it is just not worth it. No matter how much you want a tan, trust me, trust me, trust me.”

On Twitter, fans praised the actor for speaking up and raising awareness of the condition, with one person writing: “As a dermatopathologist (a doctor who diagnoses basal cell carcinoma & other skin cancers under the microscope all day long), I salute you, @RealHughJackman. You’re a wonderful example of how celebrities can make an amazing positive impact. 🙌 Thank you! (Ps - I’m a huge fan too)”.

Another said: “Thank you. Going through the same thing twice this month with my husband. Please, people, the sun will hurt you if you let it.”

A third replied: “I hear you! Stay safe and wear sunscreen everyone. I promise you don’t want to go through this. Thanks for spreading the word, Hugh!”
