The latest episode of Succession season 4, titled Connor's Wedding, has earned praise as one of the best episodes of television to date, in what is already considered one of the greatest TV series of all time.

With a near-perfect score of 9.9 on IMDB and record-breaking viewership, the episode's success can be attributed to its handling of... we're going to say the world SPOILER again, this time in capital letters and in bold... the long-anticipated death of family patriarch Logan Roy.

What truly elevated the episode was witnessing how the rest of the Succession cast grappled with the aftermath of Logan's departure. Despite the tumultuous history between Logan and his family, his death deeply impacted all the characters, as evident in a touching moment when the Roy siblings embraced each other in an unscripted three-way hug.

Now, in a new interview with Variety, Mark Mylod, the director of the episode, shared the behind-the-scenes story of the heartfelt hug.

He revealed, "That lovely unscripted, three-way hug between them, which I thought was really beautiful, they just fell into. No, it wasn't in the script. They just fell into each other there, which was just gorgeous."

Mylod further highlighted the significance of the characters' subsequent actions, such as Sarah going one way, Shiv seeking Tom's support despite their differences, Roman boarding the plane to see his father's body, and Kendall being left alone. The director described it as "tremendously poignant" and emphasised the emotional impact of shooting that scene.

As Succession now navigates the aftermath of Logan Roy's death, it is clear that the show really is approaching its final stretch. We obviously never want the show to end - but we so desperately want to know what happens next too.
