Disney+ have revealed first look images of the upcoming The Full Monty original series, which sees the original characters back together once again.
The eight-part series will take place 25 after the original BAFTA-winning film and follows the same group of friends as they navigate a post-industrial Sheffield, with its crumbling healthcare, education and employment sectors.
An official synopsis reads: “The comedy-drama will uncover what happened to the gang after they put their kit back on, exploring their brighter, sillier and more desperate moments. It will also highlight how the fiercely funny world of these working-class heroes – still residing in Sheffield – has changed in the intervening decades.”
Screenwriter Simon Beaufoy is back to pen the script along with co-writer Alice Nutter and Uberto Pasolini, who are also returning as executive producers.
They aren’t the only ones coming back to The Full Monty universe either, with the likes of Robert Carlyle (Gaz), Mark Addy (Dave), Lesley Sharp (Jean), Hugo Spencer (Guy), Paul Barber (Horse), Steve Huison (Lomper), Wim Snape (Nathan) and Tom Wilkinson (Gerald) all returning to reprise their roles.
The group can be seen reuniting in the first look images shared by Disney+, which you can see below.

Speaking about the new series, writer, creator and exec-producer Simon Beaufoy said: “It has been one of the great joys of my writing career to reunite this eccentric, irrepressible family of Sheffield men and women and see how 25 years, 7 Prime Ministers, and 100 broken political promises have affected their lives.”
Alice Nutter added: “Entering the Monty world, where community, friends and family step in when the state has so abysmally failed, has been a great personal reminder of what is good about the world we live in. The series has been a pleasure and a privilege to write on.”
The original 1997 BAFTA-winning movie is available to stream now on Disney+ in the UK.
