A release date for Good Omens season two has finally been announced and fans won’t have too long to wait.

The second instalment of the Prime Video series starring David Tennant and Michael Sheen will land on the streaming platform on 28th July 2023- so we only have two months until we can catch up with our favourite angel and demon.

A post on the official Good Omens Twitter page confirmed the news and said: “On the 10th of May, we were given a date for season 2, and it is ineffably good. Good Omens returns July 28th on Prime Video."

If that wasn’t enough, we were also treated with a brand new first-look at Tennant’s Crowley and Sheen’s Aziraphale in the new season. In the poster, the pair are sitting together in what appears to be Aziraphale’s bookshop, which you can see below.

Fans were, of course, delighted to hear the news considering the last season of Good Omens aired in 2019 and took to Twitter to share their excitement.

One person said: “This is the best news I’ve heard in weeks”.

Another added: “Indeed one of the most underrated series of all time. A true #feelgood series, which I will surely recommend with a 5-star. Eagerly waiting for season 2”.

While a third wrote: “Oh thank God. Or, whoever. I'm not entirely sure which side I'm on to be honest.”

One fan also shared their hopes for a love story between Crawley and Aziraphale, to which creator Neil Gaiman responded: "Wait and see".

The release date was confirmed again in a fan-funded parody video of the show, which Gaiman collaborated on with superfans Hilly and Hannah Hindi of The Hillywood Show.

Season one of Good Omens was based on the novel of the same name, co-authored by Gaiman and Sir Terry Pratchett. However, a sequel was never written, so there is no predicting what could happen in season two.

Hopefully, we’ll get that love story between Crawley and Aziraphale!

Good Omens season 2 arrives on Prime Video on 28th July 2023.
