Disgraced entertainer Rolf Harris has passed away after a long illness, aged 93.
His death has been confirmed by a registrar at the town hall in Maidenhead, where he lived and Harris is said to have passed away from neck cancer and the "frailty of old age".
The Australian TV presenter was a household name for decades before being convicted of using his fame to sexually assault young girls in 2014. He was also convicted on four charges of producing indecent child images and was sentenced to five years and nine months in prison.
Harris lived in Britain from the age of 22 when he moved from his native country Australia in 1953. He had several of his own TV shows and a string of hit songs with the likes of Jake the Peg and Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport.
The entertainer also sat Queen Elizabeth II for a portrait on her 80th birthday and was awarded many honours, including an MBE, OBE and CBE, all of which were revoked after his conviction.
At his sentencing, Harris was described as a “sinister pervert” who had shown “no remorse for [his] crimes at all”.
He served three years of his sentence at Stafford Prison in Staffordshire and after his release, returned to the home in Bray, Berkshire.
