Will Poulter has revealed the extreme lengths he went to in order to bag a role on fan-favourite series The Bear.

The Marvel star has admitted in a new interview with Variety that he was such a fan of the FX/Disney+ series that he “begged” creator and producer Chris Storer for a chance to appear in the foodie show.

The Midsommar star didn't have to try too hard through, as he joined the chaotic show in the fourth episode of season two as Luca, a Copenhagen chef who trained Marcus, played by Lionel Boyce.

Will told the publication: “I called them. I literally begged to be in the show. I asked if I could meet with Chris Storer and basically communicated that I was such a fan of so much of his work, but especially The Bear. He was kind enough to gift me with the offer to play Luca and it really changed my life, to be honest. It kind of helped me realise a dream of playing a chef on TV."

That dream of course came true, but when quizzed why he wanted to get in the kitchen on the small screen, Will explained: “I have such an immense amount of respect for chefs and the women and men of that industry.

“I feel like the whole society stands on the shoulders of people in the food and beverage industry, and we don’t even necessarily really know it or think about it. They sustain us and maintain us daily and they don’t get enough thanks for what they do.”

While the second season has already aired in the US, the new episodes won’t land in the UK on Disney+ until 19th July.

Season one of the acclaimed dark comedy-drama followed award-winning chef Carmen ‘Carmy’ Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) who returned to run his family’s Italian beef sandwich shop following his brother’s suicide.

Season two will focus on Carmy’s decision to close the shop and, along with Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) and Richie (Ebon Mass-Bachrach), open up a next-level restaurant in its place.

The synopsis explains that, in stripping down the sarnie shop, “the crew undertakes transformational journeys of their own, each forced to confront the past and reckon with who they want to be in the future.”

The new season will see Abby Elliott, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colon-Zayas, Matty Matheson, Edwin Lee Gibson and Oliver Platt reprise their roles, while Molly Gordon joins the cast, and we can expect an appearance from Better Call Saul legend Bob Odenkirk.

The Bear season two is set to premiere in the US on 22nd June, and will land in the UK on Disney+ on 19th July.
