Naomi Campbell has second child at 53: ‘It’s never too late to become a mother’

Supermodel Naomi Campbell has given birth to a baby boy at the age of 53.

The star surprised fans by announcing the news on Instagram. She posted a picture of herself and her two-year-old daughter holding hands with the new arrival, and wrote: “My little darling, know that you are cherished beyond measure and surrounded by love from the moment you graced us with your presence. A True Gift from God 🙏🏾, blessed ! Welcome Babyboy. 💙🍼✨ #mumoftwo ❤️💙”

She added: “It’s never too late to become a mother.”

At this stage, she has not revealed the name of her new son.

Friends and fans were quick to send their congratulations, including plenty of other models. 

Claudia Schiffer said: “Congratulations! ❤️”, while Cindy Crawford wrote: Congrats!!! Can’t wait to meet him!"

Ashley Graham said: “Congratulations Mama!!!!!!! Welcome baby boy!” 

Legendary Italian fashion designer Donatella Versace posted: “✨✨ Congratulations Omi!! ✨✨”

Fellow fashion designer Marc Jacobs said: “Oh my! Already? I can’t believe a second blessing. How amazing!!”

Kelly Rowland of Destiny’s Child fame wrote: “NAOMI!!! Congratulations!!”

Actor Zoe Saldana added: “Oh my goodness! Welcome!! Blessings upon blessings!”

This isn’t the first time that the London-born model has surprised fans with a baby announcement. In May 2021 she did the same, when she revealed that she had welcomed a baby girl just before she turned 51.

In March 2022, she posed with her daughter for the cover of British Vogue, and in an interview for the publication, said: "I can count on one hand the number of people who knew that I was having her.”
