When it was revealed that Oppenheimer and the Barbie movie were being released on the same day, many expected a fierce rivalry.

Now, Oppenheimer star Cillian Murphy has revealed he will absolutely be going to watch his opponent.

Murphy plays the lead in the epic Christopher Nolan film, but shared his excitement for Barbie in a new interview.

He told IGN: "I mean, I'll be going to see Barbie, 100%. I can't wait to see it."

"I just think it's great for the industry and for audiences, that we have two amazing films by two amazing film makers coming out the same day."

"You can spend the whole day in the cinema. What's better than that?"

Fans have been sharing their viewing plans, with many deliberating which film to watch first.

Artists have been sharing mash-up artwork combining the two films, affectionally dubbed "Barbenheimer".

Cillian has opened up about the "overwhelming" pressure he felt while filming the role.

“Knowing you are working with one of the greatest living directors… I just threw myself in.

“I was terribly excited," he said.

“I love acting with my body, and Oppenheimer had a very distinct physicality and silhouette, which I wanted to get right."

Early reviews have praised the film, and fans are excited to see it.

They both hit cinemas on July 21st.
