A clip showing a pigeon flying into a man’s head has caused much hilarity on BBC Breakfast this morning.
CCTV cameras caught the incident, which happened when Nottingham man Michael Speirs was wandering to the local shops.
The footage shows the pigeon in full flight, just going about its daily pigeon duties, when the unsuspecting man steps into its flight path. Then… WHACK! The two clash.
After the collision, the bird just kind of wandered off, seemingly somewhat baffled, as Mr Spiers rubbed his head, also rather bemused.
When the clip was played on BBC Breakfast (22nd September), co-presenter Ben Thompson said: “I don’t know why this amuses me so much.”
He added: “Neither pigeon nor man were hurt, we should be really clear.”
Watching the footage, presenter Naga Munchetty absolutely cracked up, saying through her laughs: “I’m sweating, I’m sorry. Like, when you watch a video and you know you’re not supposed to laugh and then it makes you laugh even more.”
The incident was shown from a host of angles, just like the replay of a cracking Premier League goal. “It’s really good CCTV coverage,” Nana said.
“It’s better than some of the filming we do,” Ben joked.
Nana added: “I’m really hot. We’ll have to get make-up in to sort this out!”

Mr Speirs also told the BBC that the pigeon appeared uninjured following the collision. “The pigeon was fine, just a little dizzy”, he said.
"It was like being whacked full pelt with a feathered pillow," he revealed.
