One of the incoming Married at First Sight UK 'intruder' grooms has praised the unique social experiment for saving him from “a very dark place.”

Jordan, 26, will be one of the new faces joining the current crop of married couples when the show continues tonight (Thursday 5th October).

Described as a ‘cheeky northerner’, Jordan hoped to swap his socialite lifestyle to settle down with The One, but while romance was on the cards, Jordan didn’t expect the series to “lift” him while he was “struggling.”

Speaking to virginradio.co.uk and other press ahead of the big ‘intruders’ reveal, Jordan admitted the show found him at the right time.

“I was really struggling, I was in quite a dark place,” he explained: “When they actually approached me, I just knew straight away it was the right thing because I was struggling to find a reason, or any motivation to get out of bed.

“I think I'm one of those people where if I'm not with someone, and I'm not doing something for someone else, to provide for someone else and be successful for someone else, and share life experiences, I get a bit down.”

Jordan applauded the show and his new bride for giving him his "fire back,” and credited the Channel 4 reality series for “lifting me up from a dark place.”

“It was a blessing,” he continued. “It was meant to be.”

It sounds like getting married to a stranger on national television was right up Jordan’s street from the get-go, as the Sheffield-based personal trainer said his family were “not surprised” to hear about his secret ceremony.

He added: “I make really impulsive decisions, for the good or for the bad. Some work out, some don't. I think they were just hoping this one would work out because it's probably the biggest thing I've done so far.

“I do not do things by the book. I try but it just doesn't work for me so yeah, it's definitely completely off.”

Joining Jordan on the intruder grooms list will be Essex lad JJ, London customer service manager Mark, athlete Matt and Durham Store Manager Sean, all of whom will tie the knot with a betrothed they have yet to meet.

Married at First Sight UK continues on E4 and Channel 4 Mondays to Thursdays at 9pm.
