She has starred in the hugely popular Enola Holmes films, and now Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown is leading a new fantasy adventure movie.

As we await the final season of Stranger Things, the trailer for Netflix movie Damsel has landed, and shows Brown in the lead role as a heroic young princess called Elodie.

The film's official synopsis reads: "A dutiful damsel agrees to marry a handsome prince, only to find the royal family has recruited her as a sacrifice to repay an ancient debt. Thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon, she must rely on her wits and will to survive."

The new trailer shows Elodie in peril after a voiceover explains: “For generations it has been our task to protect our people. So tonight, you join a long line of women who helped to build this kingdom. The price is dear, but so, too, the reward."

Damsel also stars Ray Winstone as the King, Angela Bassett as Princess Elodie's stepmother and Robin Wright as Queen Isabelle, while Nick Robinson stars as Prince Henry to whom Elodie is betrothed.

Ahead of the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, Brown, who plays Eleven, has admitted that she’s ready to move on from the sci-fi show. “Stranger Things takes up a lot of time to film and it’s preventing me from creating stories that I’m passionate about. So I’m ready to say, ‘Thank you, and goodbye.'”

Production on the concluding season of Stranger Things has been delayed due to the writers and actors’ strikes, but the writers announced that they were back to work in October after a deal was struck. The actors' strike has also now ended after the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) agreed a “tentative” deal with Hollywood studios.

Damsel will be released on Netflix in 2024.
