Ready your taste buds and unleash the floodgates of nostalgia as Central Perk Coffeehouse, the iconic café from Friends, materialises on Boston's famed Newbury Street on November 14.

As coffee enthusiasts and Friends aficionados unite in anticipation, there's an extra special touch to the unveiling—the late Matthew Perry, immortalised as Chandler Bing, will be honoured on this momentous day.

The brainchild of Warner Bros. Themed Entertainment and CenPer, this 2,600-square-foot haven pays homage to the unforgettable moments shared by Monica, Chandler, Ross, Rachel, Joey, and Phoebe. Following a temporary pop-up in New York, Central Perk Boston stakes its claim as the first permanent coffee shop and restaurant inspired by the beloved sitcom.

Inspired by the NBC series, which ran from 1994 to 2004 and starred Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, and Matt LeBlanc, Central Perk is the first permanent coffee shop and restaurant serving light fare. It's located on Boston’s most famous boulevard: Newbury Street. (There was previously a temporary pop-up location in New York.)

The company delayed their opening after Perry's death on Oct. 28. Now, Central Perk will honor Perry on the new opening day.

Venturing into this Friends haven, visitors are greeted by an oversized orange couch, the beating heart of Central Perk. Nods to the show's characters and plot-lines adorn the venue, creating an ambiance that echoes the spirit of the sitcom. The walls echo with iconic quotes, and a Chandler Bing coffee cup sleeve, bearing the irreverent 'Can I Interest You in a Sarcastic Comment?' will be exclusively distributed in honour of Matthew Perry.

Designed by Glen & Co Architecture, the space isn't a mere replica; it's a modern interpretation, envisioning how Central Perk would look in 2024. Glen Coben, the principal designer, affirms that it's about capturing the essence of the show in a contemporary setting.

Beyond the visual spectacle, Central Perk promises a delectable experience. The menu, curated for all-day indulgence, features subtle nods to the show. Savour Ross Geller's Moist Maker Sandwich, delight in Monica’s homemade jam, or opt for Rachel Green's Side Salad. The coffee selection, bearing names like 'How You Doin'?' and 'Oh.My.GAWD,' ensures a flavorful journey with each sip.

Come evening, the menu expands to include local beers, natural wines, and shared plates, ensuring that Central Perk transitions seamlessly from a morning coffee retreat to an evening hangout spot.

Central Perk's inception wasn't a hasty decision. It's a celebration of Friends' universal themes, resonating with audiences worldwide. Kathleen Wallis, VP of Global Themed Entertainment at Warner Bros. Discovery, highlights the show's impending 30th anniversary and the dream to bring Central Perk to life. More than a replication, it's a space where individuals can create their own stories, weaving them into the rich tapestry of Friends lore.

Noteworthy is the involvement of Top Chef alum and renowned restaurateur Tom Colicchio, serving as an investor and advisor. His confidence in Central Perk stems not just from its association with the iconic show but also its potential to become a staple in the daily lives of coffee aficionados.

So, as the aroma of coffee wafts through the air and the laughter of Friends echoes in a modern setting, Central Perk Boston invites fans, coffee enthusiasts, and anyone seeking a warm, inviting space to be part of a tale that began in a little coffee shop in New York—a tale that continues to unfold in the heart of Boston.
