Stranger Things' David Harbour gushes about marriage to Lily Allen

David Harbour, the charismatic actor known for his roles in Stranger Things, couldn't help but share the joy he finds in his marriage with British singer Lily Allen, in an exclusive chat at the BoxLunch Holiday Gala in Hollywood.

In an exclusive interview with People in Hollywood, David Harbour opened up about the enduring joy in his marriage to Lily Allen. The couple, who tied the knot in a whimsical Las Vegas ceremony in September 2020, radiates happiness despite the recent challenges brought by the actors' strike.

Harbour, known for his role in Stranger Things, emphasised the positive impact of the SAG strike on their relationship, stating: "Ultimately, it's very good because you get to know someone."

However, he humorously added: "My wife likes when I go to work because it's nice for her to have her life, and me to have my life, and for us not to just annoy each other by being around all the time."

The couple shares a blended family, raising Allen's daughters, Ethel and Marnie, aged 11 and 10.

Harbour expressed delight in the experience, saying:"We have these two kids, and it's so great. We get to raise them and stuff, and as our marriage continues, we grow closer and closer."

Harbour candidly shared the challenges he faced during the strike, noting: "I was sitting on the couch depressed as hell with nothing to do."

He likened the experience to the early days of the COVID pandemic when ample time did not necessarily translate to contentment.

Harbour also told PEOPLE at the gala this week that he is “super excited to be back at work” on the fifth season of Stranger Things, which he said production begins on next week.

“They literally called me, I think it was 10 minutes after the SAG thing on Twitter," he said. "The first AD [Assistant Director] is like, ‘So, get the flight for you on Monday, right? We'll be acting in Atlanta.’ ”

“I'm thrilled with that. I'm ready to work,” the actor added.

Despite the hurdles, Harbour and Allen celebrated their third wedding anniversary in September. Allen commemorated the occasion with a touching tribute, declaring: "3 years with this guy, 2nd best decision I ever made. 1st was that dress."

Looking ahead, Harbour expressed eagerness about returning to work on the fifth season of Stranger Things. He revealed that production is set to begin next week, and he's thrilled to be back in action.
