‘We’re excited’ - Gorka Márquez and Gemma Atkinson share reality show announcement

Strictly Come Dancing’s Gorka Márquez and former Hollyoaks star Gemma Atkinson have updated fans about the future of their reality show.

The couple, who met on Strictly back in 2017, have two kids together, daughter Mia, born in 2019 and son Thiago, who they welcomed in 2023. Last year, the celebrity couple were the focus of a reality series, Gemma and Gorka: Life Behind the Lens, which took an unfiltered look at the duo’s lives as they juggled busy work diaries with their home life. The series also documented the imminent arrival of Thiago.

Fans of the series will be delighted to learn that Gemma and Gorka have announced that they are teaming up with UKTV’s free-to-air entertainment channel W and streaming service UKTV Play for more.

The six-part second series of Gemma and Gorka: Life Behind the Lens will focus on the dancer and the actor as they adjust to the chaos of life as a family of four. 

In a statement, Gemma and Gorka said: "We’re excited to be back on your screens with W for our second series. The messages we received, and are still receiving from the first series, have blown us away. We’re glad so many families can relate to ours and the crazy, wonderful, and exhausting world of parenthood!”

The duo also took to Instagram to share the news. “Did someone say series 2… 👀 We’re back!” they wrote. 

The post continued: “We were genuinely blown away by the response & messages from the first series. So many of you found it relatable and real and reassuring as you navigated your own pregnancy journey. THANK YOU! Series 2 will follow my postpartum journey & check ups, returning back to work along with Gorkas new job role in Spain and of course the crazy home life as a family of 4 (6 with Norman and Ollie) 🥰 Thanks for sticking with us!”

The new series will see Gemma promoting her children’s book, as well as the family heading to Spain to visit Gorka's hometown, with the professional having just finished his most recent stint on Strictly. 

Gemma and Gorka: Life Behind the Lens is expected to air  W and UKTV Play later this year.
