The Apprentice series 18 kicks off tonight (Thursday 1st February) and it seems the mishaps and miscommunication trend continues in the business competition.

The hunt is on for Lord Sugar’s next business partner, and this year’s candidates kick things off in the breathtaking Scottish Highlands.

Under the watchful eye of Baroness Karren Brady and Tim Campbell, teams are tasked with hosting a corporate away day, and there’s chaos in the kitchen and tardy tours.

In this sneak peek preview, distillery cofounder Oliver Medforth and Phil Turner struggle between them to sort out the desserts for the main meal.

“Chef Phil,” Oliver asks sheepishly, before he realises he’s meant to melt down the chocolate chips before moving onto the next part.

Not only is the brownie business wildly outside of his comfort zone, it seems Oliver has never even come across a recipe before as he then wants to find out what 'tbsp' and 'tsp' means.

Oliver is tasked with baking the brownies for the meal those on the experience could enjoy after their long day of abseiling and touring the wilderness. Clearly not quite the baking expert, the Raisthorpe Distillery co-founder just about puts together the ingredients to make the dessert, but completely forgets to include one crucial ingredient - flour.

It’s a moment panellist Baroness Karen Brady certainly won’t forget in a hurry. The entrepreneur is back in the boardroom being Lord Sugar’s eyes and ears, and she couldn’t quite believe what she was watching.

Discussing the very first episode airing tonight, the business expert revealed: “In the first episode, we go up to the Highlands in Scotland on a corporate away day. Part of the corporate away day is obviously food.

“We have a situation in both teams where the team I'm following are making fish cakes, and rhubarb crumble for dessert. And unfortunately, they put the crumble on the fishcakes thinking it's bread crumbs, and it has disastrous consequences, which the client is very unhappy about.

“On the team that Tim's following, they're making brownies, which only have literally five ingredients. They forget the flour, which is a fundamental ingredient to making a good brownie. That starts the series with a bang, the viewers will enjoy that I'm sure.”

The Apprentice starts Thursday 1st February on BBC One and BBCiPlayer.
