A stroke of genius from here in the UK as they open a pre-school in a dementia care home and all heaven breaks loose as we say hello to Northwest England’s first intergenerational care village, home to both older people and young children living and learning together.
It’s genius because it takes two growing problems and puts them together to turn it into one beautiful solution: The two problems are loneliness for ageing people especially those with dementia in care homes and the other is the rising cost and availability of child care which has been at critical levels all over the UK in recent years. Offering this most elegant solution, ‘Belong’ is a not-for-profit care operator, specialising in dementia care.

They have care villages in the northwest, and West Midlands but it’s an idea that will surely spread. The nursery children feature in the daily life of residents, enjoying experiences together including shared mealtimes, stories, arts and crafts, and exercise. We all know the joy that grandparents and grandchildren get from each other and to tap into that is a wonderful thing.

One of the best things the internet is being used for these days is amateur sleuthing and the latest success in this expanding post millennial genre is Paul MacCartney’s lost Hofner bass…it’s been found and returned to Macca!
The now iconic Hofner violin bass that Paul was famous for using in the early days of the Beatles was stolen from the back of their tourvan in Ladbroke Grove, West London, in 1972. Fast forward to now and the Lost Bass Project, an amateur detective, true crime venture started with no evidence and no leads, but after stating there was no intention to blame or press charges, some people wrote in saying it had been sold to the landlord of a pub in Ladbroke before making its way to a family in Sussex. The interest in the project was huge.
Thousands of people got involved and the bass was eventually found in someone’s attic, in a terraced house in Hastings, the owners got in touch with Paul’s company, it was verified by the good people at Hofner and returned to the most famous bass player in the world, who is incredibly grateful to all involved.
