The Traitors stars emerge in cloaks at BRIT Awards, Kylie's quirky flask moment steals the show.

Cheeky banter, fashion faux pas, and a toast with Kylie's unique challenge.

The BRIT Awards 2024 brought back the mystery of cloaks, not for a fantasy drama, but as a surprise appearance from The Traitors stars Diane and Ross Carson.

The duo made their presence felt at the ceremony, donning the iconic cloaks from their appearance in the second series of the BBC reality show.

While Kylie Minogue's honour as a BRITs Global Icon was expected, her subsequent dazzling medley closing the show added an extra layer of excitement.

However, before the night unfolded into truly awe-inspiring performances from RAYE, Dua Lipa, Calvin Harris, and Ellie Goulding, the unexpected appearance of The Traitors stars set the stage for a night of surprises.

The mother and son duo, who managed to keep their familial relationship a secret during their time on the reality show, were introduced by hosts Maya Jama, Roman Kemp, and Clara Amfo.

Peering out from under their hoods, they were asked which act they wanted to see perform live after the commercial break.

"I'm saying Raye because she's a strong, independent woman, like me," cheekily remarked Diane, while Ross added: "I'm saying Raye because she's an unbelievable woman and because Mum told me to." Fans on social media were quick to express their surprise and excitement, with one labelling the BRITs/Diane & Ross crossover as 'iconic.'

The second series of The Traitors was eventually won by Harry Clark, who managed a stunning twist by stealing the money from Mollie Pearce at the final stage.

Harry, who had a military background, credited his ability to separate emotions from gameplay to his military training, stating: "Being in the Army, because you work in a high-pressure environment, you can disassociate emotions with just getting the job done."

Amidst the fun and folly, the BRITs scriptwriters seemed oddly fixated on drinking jokes, perhaps hoping for another infamous Brandon Block moment. Host Roman Kemp even playfully challenged Calvin Harris, a teetotaler, to down a shot and revealed a bottle humorously labelled 'Harry Styles bathwater.'

"I call it the Saltburn," he winked, if you know, you know. (DON'T GOOGLE IT!)

Later, Kemp persuaded Kylie Minogue to participate in a 'shoey,' an Australian tradition of drinking from a shoe.

Kylie hesitated, asking the crowd, "Do I do this?" Amidst the resounding approval, Kemp poured Kylie's signature rosé champagne into a high heel, creating a humorous and memorable moment.

Co-host Maya Jama added a cheeky twist, joking that Kemp had athlete's foot, a decent joke if they had been drinking from his shoe.

Kemp continued his playful banter and cheeky chap-ery with a subtle dig at American rock band Green Day, introducing them as 'very much the American Busted,'' injecting a bit of humour into the evening.

The BRITs also witnessed some wardrobe 'malfunctions,' adding a touch of unpredictability to the night. Brit Rising Star award winners The Last Dinner Party and Irish singer CMAT caught the attention of viewers on social media with their fleeting fashion faux pas.

The incidents sparked discussions about body positivity and traditional Irish Craic.

The Rising Star award, was to The Last Dinner Party presented before the main show, but they still had host Clara Amfo congratulate the group during the ceremony, following a performance by RAYE, emphasising their status as Brit Award winners.

The coveted award has been won by the likes of Adele, Jessie J and Florence and The Machine in the past.

RAYE, the night's biggest winner, secured Songwriter of the Year, Best New Artist, Best R&B Act, British Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year, missing only Best Pop Act, which went to Dua Lipa.

In a night full of surprises, banter, and quirky moments, the BRIT Awards 2024 will be remembered for its lively spirit, unexpected appearances, and the playful camaraderie that made it a truly memorable evening in the world of music.
