Ryan Gosling has melted hearts by paying homage to his partner Eva Mendes' late dog in his upcoming action comedy The Fall Guy.
The I'm Just Ken singer told Hollywood Reporter how his new canine movie sidekick is a nod to Eva's beloved late dog, Hugo, who died in 2014.
The Barbie star explained: "Eva used to have a dog named Hugo who was a Belgian Malinois who was an attack dog. He only spoke French. He’s passed now, so this is my homage to him. I miss that dude.”

Director David Leitch added: "It was another inspired idea from our creative sessions and we wanted to bring this additional character into the mix,” he said. “When you're in an action scene, you're always trying to give yourself problems to solve to make the choreography fresh.
“Rain is good, ice is good, and adding an animal on set is always great. The character just took on a life of its own."

In the movie Ryan plays Colt Seavers, a stuntman-turned-crime-solver who is joined by an Australian Kelpie named Jean Claude who only understands French.
The synopsis of the movie, which also stars Emily Blunt, Hannah Waddingham and Jason Statham, states: "After leaving the business one year earlier, battle-scarred stuntman Colt Seavers springs back into action when the star of a big studio movie suddenly disappears.
"As the mystery surrounding the missing actor deepens, Colt soon finds himself ensnared in a sinister plot that pushes him to the edge of a fall more dangerous than any stunt."
It comes after Ryan revealed that he received helpful 'tips' from Eva and their two daughters Esmeralda, 9, and Amada, 7, before his recent Oscars performance.
The La La Land actor told People about performing at the A-list-filled awards ceremony: "It was great. daughters
"It was so fun because they came to the dress rehearsal the day before and so they were in the front row. They gave me some tips and some notes, all great notes.

"They are such a huge part of this for me... it was my girls' interest in Barbie and disinterest in Ken that got me into this in the first place. It was beautiful to have them there at the end."
Eva shared footage standing outside Gosling's dressing room at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood by the caption: "Always by my man."
The Once Upon a Time in Mexico actress told Ryan on social media: "You took Ken all the way to the Oscars, RG. Now come home, we need to put the kids to bed."
The Fall Guy crashes into cinemas on May 3.
