Former tennis pro turned presenter Annabel Croft reveals her astonishment at making it to the semi-finals of Strictly Come Dancing, sharing her journey with Andy Goldstein on Virgin Radio.

Andy Goldstein was back once again to run the weekend breakfast show at Virgin Radio and whipping out the phone book once again to pull in some top tier celebrity guests.

This delved into Goldstein's connections in the sporting world and celebrity dancing competitions.

Despite her initial doubts, Annabel Croft soared through the competition with her partner Johannes Radebe, proving to herself and everyone else that she's got some serious moves beyond the tennis court.

Andy Goldstein then asked Annabel about whether, as a sports person, if she felt she'd have to win Strictly Come Dancing, comparing other sport's people to need to win anything from 'Monopoly to a race in the park'

Reflecting on her unexpected success, Croft confessed: "Right from week one, I thought I will be lucky to make it past the first week because I just think I'll just get turfed off... But of course, when you're down to the last, you know, three, four couples, then you're starting to think well, is this possible? Is this really possible?"

"I knew what it meant to Johannes because he's, he's such an incredible dancer and a teacher...But it wasn't possible, sadly, but but, you know, I was just thrilled with what we achieved. And I had, as I said, I had an amazing time."

Despite not clinching the trophy, Croft describes her time on the show as 'the best thing I've ever done,' showcasing her newfound passion for dance.

In the world of sports, victory is often the ultimate goal, but for Croft, the journey was just as rewarding as any championship win.

With determination and grace, she danced her way into the hearts of viewers, surprising even herself with each passing week, and dealt bravely with the sad passing of her husband during her time on the show.

As Andy Goldstein aptly put it, Croft's journey on Strictly was more than just a dance competition; it was a testament to her resilience, spirit, and willingness to step outside her comfort zone.

Though the coveted Strictly trophy may have eluded her, Croft's journey serves as an inspiration to anyone hesitant to take the leap onto the dance floor.

After all, as Croft proves, sometimes the biggest victories come from the most unexpected places.

As the Strictly Come Dancing stage lights dimmed and the glitter settled, Annabel Croft can walk away with her head held high, knowing that she gave it her all and left an indelible mark on the dance floor.
