Dannii Minogue has revealed she “identifies as queer” while promoting her new series, I Kissed a Girl.

The singer and TV star shared the personal insight while at the official launch for the popular BBC Three gay dating show I Kissed A Boy’s follow-up series, which will feature an all female cast.

“I identify as queer in a weird way,” MailOnline reports Dannii said, before she praised the “so important” show for choosing to focus on queer women second time around.

“There hasn’t been a show for the girls in the realty gay dating world,” Dannii shared. “It’s like we need this to happen. I’m hoping that there are parties up and down the country.”

Commenting on this series’ 10 new contestants, the Australian star and younger sister of pop icon Kylie Minogue said: “You girls are hot. You know it. I love it. I’m here for it.”

She then added: “You girls are so brave and amazing and have brought so much to it. I could never do what you have done.

“I will always be in awe of what has happened and what we’ve created. I feel so proud. You’re stepping forward, you’re the first crew of girls representing in this space, and it is big.”

I Kissed A Girl will see 10 new contestants paired together by behind the scenes matchmakers and jetted off to Italy for an immediate first kiss.

After this meeting, the pairs will get to know each other and determine whether they have chemistry together. All the while, the contestants will also be able to socialise with each other outside of their matches, and some may determine they’re more compatible elsewhere.

Dannii plays the role of the show’s ‘Cupid’, socialising with the five pairs who’ve been flown to the show’s beautiful Italian Masseria “for the ultimate summer of love.”

I Kissed A Girl will be aired every Sunday and Monday night at 9pm on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer from Sunday, 5th May.
