Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer are set to star in a new Robin Hood film entitled The Death of Robin Hood.

The Wolverine and Villanelle actors’ involvement in the project - which will be written and directed by A Quiet Place: Day One’s Michael Sarnoski - was revealed by Deadline today (3rd May).

In the film’s announcement, Deadline claim the project will present “a darker reimagining of the classic Robin Hood tale” featuring an older Robin Hood “grappling with his past after a life of crime and murder” as a “battleworn loner who finds himself gravely injured and in the hands of a mysterious woman, who offers him a chance at salvation.”

The Death of Robin Hood won’t hit cinemas for quite some time, as production of the movie is only due to begin in February 2025.

Speaking about the project, Alexander Black from the film’s financer Lyrical Media gushed: “We are thrilled to be part of this very special project and to be working with a visionary director in Michael, a phenomenal cast in Hugh and Jodie, and producing with our frequent collaborators, Ryder and Swett at RPC.”

Producers Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett added teasingly: “This is not the story of Robin Hood we’ve all come to know.”

“Instead, Michael has crafted something far more grounded and visceral… the world is going to love seeing Hugh and Jodie together in this epic,” they continued.

Meanwhile, Sarnoski himself said: “It has been an incredible opportunity to reinvent and freshly innovate the story we all know of Robin Hood. Securing the perfect cast to transform the script to screen was essential. I could not be more thrilled and trusting in Hugh and Jodie to bring this story to life in a powerful and meaningful way.”

The Death of Robin Hood will hit cinemas in the future.
