Tom Cruise has continued his run as the most generous man in Hollywood after his War of the Worlds co-star Dakota Fanning confessed how he continues to send birthday gifts every year.

Dakota and Tom worked together nearly 20 years ago on War of the Worlds, when the former child star was only 10 years old. She starred as Tom’s daughter in the 2005 sci-fi thriller, which became one of the most successful films of the year.

Given that Tom sends his famous chocolate coconut Bundt Cake to a select group of A-Listers at Christmas every year, it’ll be no surprise to hear that the Top Gun star continues his gift-giving all year-round.

Speaking on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Dakota admitted she’s one of the lucky ones who still receives lavish presents from Cruise, and it’s all down to very wholesome moment the pair shared on set.

She divulged: “I turned 11 on War of the Worlds when we worked together, and he gave me my first cell phone for that birthday. It was a Motorola Razr. I didn’t have anyone to call but I just wanted a Razr so bad. I must have been talking about it a lot because that’s what he got me. It was such a great memory.”

Since then, Tom has made sure to gift The Watched star the same thing each year after she revealed her adoration of shoes.

“I loved shoes when I was little,” she added. “I started to be able to fit into really small adult shoes when I was on the War of the Worlds press tour so I was very excited about them.

“And so, from that birthday on, he always sends me shoes.”

Speaking of Tom’s generosity, fellow Hollywood royalty Tom Hanks recently dished the details on Cruise’s legendary Bundt Cake, which he gets sent each year.

Speaking on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show with webuyanycar in December, Chris quizzed Hanks on the delicious present, and the Toy Story star divulged: “It is so dense. It's round, it's a Bundt cake, it's got a hole in the middle. No one wants to be the last person to take a slice.

“So it gets thinner and thinner and thinner and thinner as everybody is grabbing a little bit of it. So it's like razor thin. But it is so dense.” He added: "It is like eating a brick. A sweet, delicious, coconut-filled, vanilla brick."

Meanwhile, Dakota is currently on the press tour for her new supernatural flick The Watched, in which she plays an artist who gets stranded in a mysterious forest, only to learn that she - alongside three other strangers - are being watched and stalked by creatures each night.

Speaking exclusively to virginradio.co.uk at a special screening of The Watched in London, Dakota revealed that the voyeuristic project did cause her to reflect on growing up in front of the camera.

“I've been a recognisable person for a while,” she continued: “I'm used to it, I don't let it bother me, I don't let it bother me or worry me too much, because that would be a waste of time. You kind of just get used to it and move on.

“It's usually people being very nice and wanting to say that they liked some movie that you did or something, and so I don't mind.”

The Watched will be released in cinemas on Friday, 7th June.
