The Apprentice stars Harpreet Kaur and Akshay Thakrar have officially married, becoming the first couple to do so after meeting on the show.

The pair competed in the 2022 series, and Harpreet went on to win the show and Lord Sugar’s investment.

After filming had wrapped, the couple started dating and announced their engagement in May last year. They officially tied the knot this month in a three-day ceremony.

Speaking to The Mirror, Akshay said: “It’s crazy- what a story that we met on the show. I said in my speech, ‘I think I’m the only man who can say I met my wife on The Apprentice.’”

He added: “The only way I can describe our wedding is that it felt like a movie; it was amazing.”

The three-day event started with a civil ceremony at Wentbridge House Hotel in West Yorkshire before an Indian ceremony at Hare Krishna Temple in Watford.

Their wedding guests also included the show’s first winner, Tim Campbell, and 2022 contestants Kathryn Louise Burn, Brittany Carter, Akeem Bundu-Kamara and Nick Showering.

As part of the wedding, there was also a fake Apprentice contest with a backdrop of the theme tune to determine the boss of the relationship. Harpreet was the victor (via Daily Mail).

The pair have previously said that planning the wedding was like a Lord Sugar task in itself. While he wasn’t on the guest list, his spirit of competition and entrepreneurship was certainly in the air.

Harpreet told the BBC, "When you work in business, you're very capable of juggling multiple plates at once, so I found this like another Apprentice task.

"There are so many elements to the wedding, from picking a venue to considering your guests' travel arrangements to making sure they don't get bored."

Akshay added: "There's also the food, the finance, the timeline, even the weather… and of course the negotiations, that has been fun."
