Girls Aloud have opened up about the heartfelt gifts given to them by late bandmate Sarah Harding.

The singer sadly passed away in 2021 at the age of 39 after being diagnosed with breast cancer, leaving her bandmates and fans devastated by the news.

Cheryl, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh are now on tour with a show dedicated to Harding with all their biggest hits to honour her legacy.

In a new interview with The Guardian, the group have opened up about how hard it is to do a tour without Sarah and how they are still coming to terms with her passing.

Nadine said: “I keep expecting her to burst in, with some tale of woe, like, a horse ran in front of her, and then this happened, and this happened, and she had to rescue it.

“She always had these amazing tales; getting from A to B, she’d have A to Z happen in between.”

Speaking about coming to terms with Sarah’s diagnosis, Cheryl said: “She said it to me, but at that time, I just wanted her to stop talking, honestly. It was painful to hear her knowing what was coming. It was bizarre. How do you have that conversation? It felt wrong.”

“Your heart’s breaking for the person asking you to go on and do it,” added Nicola on Harding’s wish for them to do another tour.

“And you know she would have loved this,” Cheryl said.

Cheryl then revealed a gift Sarah had given her before she died—a smooth white stone with the words ‘You are loved’ inscribed on one side and a feather on the other.

The other bandmates all have the same thing but with different words inscribed on the stone. Nadine revealed hers says ‘Hope’, while Nicola’s says ‘smile’.

The group have made sure their late bandmate is still a huge part of their current tour, particularly during the performance of I’ll Stand By You, which features a video of Sarah singing her lines.
