Hollywood stars Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are set to reunite for the follow-up to one of their most beloved 90s movies.

It’s been confirmed the pair will star in a sequel to 1998 classic Practical Magic, which both Kidman and Bullock will produce. One of the writers behind the original, Akiva Goldsman, will pen the script.

In Practical Magic, the talented duo played two orphaned sisters who come from a long-line of witches. Having been raised by their eccentric aunts (played by Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest), the sisters then have to use their magic to ward off a deadly curse.

At the time of release, Practical Magic received negative reviews by critics but became beloved by movie goers, who will no doubt be thrilled to see the fantasy romance return to the big screen.

The news was confirmed by Warner Bros’ official social media channels, and fans were quick to share their excitement about the upcoming sequel.

“Is everyone else OK? Because I’m not,” wrote one fan, while another said. “If this is true I am stoked! Still one of the best scenes. And taught me women are full of magic. But it's not woo woo. It's just all heart. we pretend it's magic so you don't catch onto its simplicity and artform.”

“OMG!!!!! best news I've heard in ages,” replied a third.

Plot and cast details are yet to be confirmed, but the likes of Aidan Quinn, Evan Rachel Wood and Margo Martindale could make a comeback for the follow-up.

Practical Magic featured a very famous scene in which Bullock, Kidman, Channing and Wiest dance around the house after an evening of drinking margaritas, and while not originally inebriated themselves, Australian star Kidman turned things up a notch.

During an interview with Today during the original press run for Practical Magic, Sandra revealed: “We weren’t drunk when we shot these parts or when we did our close-ups, but we had to reshoot a scene where it was far away.

“We were on our backs and Nicole just put the bottle on the table and said, ‘You know what? There’s no reason we shouldn’t be drunk here.’ And I said, ‘You know what? That’s true.'”

Kidman can next be seen in Netflix film A Family Affair with Zac Efron, while Sandra was last on the big screen in 2022's Bullet Train.

A release date for the Practical Magic follow-up has yet to be announced.
