Gordon Ramsay has opened up about the injuries he sustained in a cycling accident in Connecticut this week.
The TV Chef took to social media on Saturday to talk about the “really bad accident” and to stress the importance of always wearing a helmet.
“It really shook me,” Ramsay said in a video posted to his social media channels. “Honestly, I’m lucky to be here.”

“I’m in pain, it’s been a brutal week,” he said as he raised his shirt to reveal a huge purple bruise across his torso.
The chef went on to commend the work of the trauma surgeons, doctors and nurses who looked after him at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London and urged his followers to always put their safety first.
“Honestly, you’ve got to wear a helmet,” he told the camera. “I don’t care how short the journey is, I don’t care the fact that these helmets cost money, but they’re crucial. Even with the kids, a short journey, they’ve got to wear a helmet.”
In the caption, he added: “I have a very important message for all the dads out there…WEAR A HELMET.”
The chef also shared a before and after picture from the accident, with the after picture showing a very damaged helmet.
Last year, Gordon welcomed his sixth child, Jesse James Ramsay, with wife Tana. The couple share five other children, Megan, Jack, Holly, Tilly, and Oscar.
