Strictly Come Dancing winner Ellie Leach has taken to social media to reveal that memories of her time on the show make her “laugh” and “cry”.

The former Coronation Street actor teamed up with pro dancer Vito Coppola to take home the Glitter Ball trophy last year, after beating Layton Williams and Bobby Brazier in the final.

Now, she has been reflecting on her journey on the show by rewatching clips. Sharing some montage footage on her Instagram Stories, she wrote: “I spend my days watching these edits. Sometimes I laugh, sometimes I cry. It’s great entertainment."

She added: “I also cried my eyes out this morning watching this. I’ve watched all of our dances over and over again, but I’ve only ever watched our show dance once."

The soap star was referring to how she and Vito didn’t manage to land the final lift in their showdance routine to a Jennifer Lopez Megamix.

"I was so mad with myself that the ending didn’t go to plan and so I just didn’t want to watch it, but this clip makes me feel really proud of what we did, the bond that we built and the trust we have in each other and although it didn’t go to plan on the night, I’m so proud that we continued to take risks every week." she wrote.

She added: “Thank you all for always supporting us. It brings me so much joy to watch these clips and remember the time we had.”

It has been announced that Vito will be back on Strictly later this year, and he has also been unveiled as one of the contestants in MasterChef 2024.

When head judge Shirley Ballas joined the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with webuyanycar on Virgin Radio earlier this week, she teased that the new series of Strictly will be “absolutely spectacular.”

She told Chris: “The show, when you think it can't get any better… and I know I say it every year, it's a bit cliche, but they've really got some fantastic things lined up for this year. I think people are going to be shocked.”

Meanwhile, another Strictly winner, Abbey Clancy, has told Chris Evans about the aspect of Strictly Come Dancing that she “really struggled with.”

During a conversation on Virgin Radio UK today (21st June), she revealed: “I loved the training side of it. The performance side, I really struggled with.”

Talking more about her time on the show in 2011, she added: “I just loved doing something new and having that incredible routine at the end. But I hated the performance because of my nerves.”

She continued: “It just made me feel ill, and even though I won I was so disappointed, because my nerves held me back, and I was like, ‘I could have done this full JLo style!’

Strictly Come Dancing will return to BBC One later in 2024.
