Squid Game is making its dramatic return to Netflix with an ominous teaser trailer ahead of the highly-anticipated second series.
Fans were treated to a new glimpse of the second season, which will arrive three years after we were first introduced to the Korean drama’s deadly game.
In the new teaser clip, a whole new batch of green jumpsuit-clad contestants are sprinting to a finish line, but it’s clear many players won’t see the end of the race.

Season two of Squid Game is expected to pick up right where the first series ended, with Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) still reeling from his experience as the winner of the first game.
If you need a slight refresher, the first series featured 456 strangers who are facing financial ruin. They sign up to compete in some children's games, with the winner earning around £23.2 million. The catch is, if you lose, you get brutally murdered.
The official synopsis for Squid Game series two reads: “Three years after winning Squid Game, Player 456 remains determined to find the people behind the game and put an end to their vicious sport.
“Using this fortune to fund his search, Gi-hun starts with the most obvious of places: look for the man in a sharp suit playing ddakji in the subway. But when his efforts finally yield results, the path toward taking down the organisation proves to be deadlier than he imagined: to end the game, he needs to re-enter it.”
It’s also been confirmed that some familiar faces will make a return, Lee Jung-jae (Gi-hun), Lee Byung-hun as game overseer Hwang In-ho, Gong Yoo as the Squid Game salesman and Wi Ha-jun.
Newcomers include Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Park Sung-hoon to name just a few.
As well as teasing fans with the first-look, Netflix also confirmed that we have a little while to wait before the next series of Squid Game drops. Director Hwang Dong-hyuk revealed that series two will be released on 26th December.
However, it’s a bittersweet moment for Squid Game fans, as Hwang also confirmed that the third series will be the last, and will hit Netflix in 2025.
Since its explosive debut on Netflix in 2021, Squid Game has captivated audiences worldwide, becoming the platform’s most-watched series within its first 28 days, amassing 1.65 billion viewing hours.
It was praised by fans and critics alike, receiving numerous prizes including a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor O Yeong-su, a Screen Actors Guild Award for both Lee Jung-jae and Jung Ho-yeon (who played Kang Sae-byeok) respectively. They were the first Korean actors to win in those categories.
Lee also won the Emmy for Lead Actor in a Drama, the first time an Asian actor won for a non-English part.
Squid Game returns to Netflix for series 2 on 26th December. The third and final series will air in 2025.
