Could the Jedi Master be returning once more? Ewan McGregor hints at another Star Wars adventure as Obi-Wan.
In a galaxy not so far away, Ewan McGregor, the man who made "Hello there!" one of the most iconic greetings in cinema, has teased that he might once again don the Jedi robes as Obi-Wan Kenobi.
The Scottish actor, beloved for his portrayal of the Jedi Master in the Star Wars prequels, dropped a tantalising hint about a new Obi-Wan Kenobi project during a recent interview with Variety.

McGregor first wielded his lightsaber as Obi-Wan in 1999’s The Phantom Menace, where he stepped into the legendary role originally played by Sir Alec Guinness in the original trilogy.
Since then, McGregor has become synonymous with the wise Jedi Knight, returning once again in 2022 for the hit Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi.
But it seems that even with the battle scars from his showdown with Anakin (aka Darth Vader), Obi-Wan's story might not be over yet.
When asked about a possible return to the Star Wars universe, McGregor gave fans reason to hope.
"I really do hope we get a chance to do another one," he said, referring to a second season of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
"Between where we ended off in the series and when Alec Guinness comes on the screen with Luke Skywalker, I think there's another few stories to tell in there."
In true Obi-Wan fashion, McGregor’s words left us all feeling like young Luke Skywalker staring at twin suns – full of anticipation and wonder. After all, there are plenty of gaps in the Jedi Master’s timeline that could be filled with new adventures. Between the end of the Disney+ series and his iconic appearance in A New Hope, Obi-Wan surely had more than a few cantina escapades up his sleeve.
Hayden Christensen, who reprised his role as Anakin Skywalker in the Disney+ series, was also on hand during the interview and shared McGregor’s enthusiasm for more Star Wars stories. The dynamic between Obi-Wan and Anakin is one of the franchise's greatest sagas, and seeing more of their fractured friendship on screen is enough to make even the most stoic Jedi fans jump for joy.
McGregor also spoke about the deep connection he feels to Alec Guinness’s portrayal of the character, revealing his ongoing dedication to capturing the essence of the original Obi-Wan.
"I loved more than anything, getting to know Alec Guinness' work because I was playing him as a young man. Even now with the series, that's my personal challenge — if a take feels a bit like him, I'm happy."
While there’s been no official announcement of an Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2, or any new project, McGregor’s tease has the Star Wars fandom buzzing like lightsabers in a duel.
The Disney+ series is set 10 years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, meaning there’s still plenty of space (pun intended) for more tales before Obi-Wan meets his fateful end at the hands of Darth Vader.
The question is, will McGregor return to the small screen, or could Obi-Wan make a triumphant leap back to the big screen?
With Star Wars projects like The Acolyte, Skeleton Crew starring Jude Law, and the much-anticipated second season of Andor on the horizon, it’s clear that the Force is still very strong with Disney+.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is now streaming on Disney+.
