Only 'five or six' people have so far completed the challenge
Social media was celebrating Pete Doherty's breakfast triumph last week after he smashed the infamous breakfast challenge at Cliftonville's Dalby Cafe in Margate.
In under 20 minutes he managed to finish the enormous:
4 x rashers bacon
4 x eggs
4 x sausages
hash browns
onion rings
bubble and squeak
2 x thick bread slives
1 x quarter-pounder burger
AND chips.
Cafe owner Mark Ezekiel has said: "We’ve had a lot of people come in and not even make dents in it, compared to what he did.
That photo where he’s looking a bit ropey, that’s actually only about six or seven minutes in – he’d eaten that much in six of seven minutes, basically!
I think that’s probably why… well, he’s obviously famous for what he does, but I think that’s part of why he looked a bit rough in that first photo.”
Phew! No mean feat...which is probably why someone thought it impertinent the achievement was immortalised in stone...on a brick wall in Southend-On-Sea.
The Libertines have recently moved to the area to work on new material, and are in the process of setting up a hotel and recording studio there.
If they're anything like as successful with new material as they are with breakfast challenges, we can expect good things indeed.
