Virgin Radio Album Special: CarFest
Virgin Radio
8 Nov 2020, 22:00
CarFest started nine years ago and was the brainchild of our very own Chris Evans as a way to raise money for BBC's Children in Need.
More recently he's added other UK Children's Charities including Teenage Cancer Trust, Starlight, Rainbow Trust and the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust as beneficiaries, and so far the festival has raised £16 million.
It's back next year, fully Covid compliant and with an extra festival Retro CarFest, along with the traditional Camp CarFest North and Camp CarFest South events.
The 2021 festivals will mark CarFest's 10th birthday and as part of the celebrations there's a limited-edition double album of performances recorded live at the Festivals in 2018 and 2019. The album is out for pre-order now and available on Vinyl and CD with all the proceeds going directly to the children's charities.
This is part one of two of our Virgin Radio CarFest Album Special, with tracks from the album introduced by the artists and bands who feature on it.
This week features performances and chat from KT Tunstall, The Feeling, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Beverley Knight and Rob Brydon.
Part two is coming next Sunday at 9pm with live music and chat from The Feeling, Gary Kemp from Spandau Ballet, Ricky Wilson from the Kaiser Chiefs and Roger Daltrey.
