Love Island is one of the most popular reality shows around, and it launched the career for Freya Ridings when her song was featured in the series.
The show is coming back for 2021, and rumour has it bosses are preparing for it to be the ‘biggest show’ in its history, with no expenses spared to make sure it happens.
Like many things, the show was cancelled last year thanks to the pandemic.
An insider told the Daily Star: "Everyone is keen to make this happen. Strictly and Dancing On Ice have happened against the odds and they’re determined that Love Island can do the same".
They added: "Producers are aware that international travel will still be restricted, so they are having to plan around that."
"It is likely they will need to quarantine all contestants. ‘They also think they’ll need to fly over three times as many contestants than normal in case some of them fall ill."
Casting more people and keeping them separate will probably be pricy. "Discussions around the budget are happening. t’s definitely going to be the biggest in show history," the source added.
A TV source said: “The casting team have been shocked by the amount of contestant applications they’ve received and impressed with the standard.
“They can’t wait to start remotely screen-testing their favourites over the next few months.
“Producers reckon it’s because youngsters have been stuck at home, getting cabin fever and know the show is a one-way ticket to success."
Iain Stirling is the voiceover for the show, and he told Metro.co.uk that the UK should be considered as an option.
‘Let’s see what happens,’ he said. ‘I’ve no idea, but it could be quite amusing seeing Love Island contestants embracing the beaches of Bognor Regis at some point."
"When they can’t eat their dinner because seagulls are taking it off the plate… it could mix it up."
