The midwifery TV marvel is back with a bang this coming weekend and there's more good news - the BBC One smash hit is returning for three more series with filming for the 11th instalment starting soon, while series 12 and 13 will be based on the years 1968 and 1969.
A TV insider exclusively told The Sun: "Call The Midwife may have been around for nearly a decade but it is still going strong and providing the Beeb with a Sunday night ratings winner.
"There was no way the corporation were going to axe a show which has such a strong following and so much more scope for story lines.
"Continuing the show into series 12 and 13 sees the programme enter one of the most exciting periods in recent history.
"And there are currently no signs that the Beeb or the show’s team want to end the show there.”
Fans are delighted as the new series starts at 8pm on Sunday and covers 1966, the year of England's World Cup win while series 12 and 13 will take the show beyond into the era of the Martin Luther King assassination and the first man on the moon.
Viewers took to Twitter to express their excitement and wrote: "What I love about this programme is the whole family can watch it. No swearing or sex just great family viewing. I loved the war years episodes and then leading up to present day. I've laughed and cried through them all, never missing one single episode."
Another wrote: "Brilliant news, this just needs to be commissioned forever. The cast, the script... how could you not ever commission another ever? It has everything."
One fan gushed: "Great news. It's a heart warming show but also manages to cover a lot of serious issues in a very sensitive way."
Call The Midwife series 10 premieres on BBC One at 8pm on Sunday 18th April.
