Are you 46? Is this true?  Or are you 21 and already don't care?

It's one of the most freeing moments when you realise you couldn't give two hoots what anybody thinks about you.

Maybe you're plagued by self-doubt and are counting down the days until you don't worry as much.

A new survey has found that Brits stop worrying about what people think about us when we get to 46.

The study also found that when they feel comfortable in their own skin and ‘unapologetically themselves’, 72% of older adults feel more content.

Apparently it takes until the age of 34 for me and 36 for women for us to be comfortable with our appearance. That's a long time to be unhappy with yourself.

On average we're settled in relationships by the age of 37.

If you're still wondering what on earth you want to do for a living, you're not alone. The average age for feeling happy with your career path was 40.

Hotter.com commissioned the research. Victoria Betts said: ‘Feeling comfort is crucial to being happy in life.

‘But there are so many different areas in life to feel comfortable in, and it’s no wonder it takes Brits until their 40s to tick them all off.

‘Our results found nearly seven in 10 adults think it’s important that people should be allowed to be unapologetically themselves.'

'But for many, the desire to fit in, not make waves and go with the flow means they don’t have the confidence to do this until later in life.’

When it comes to cash, it's even later. Most Brits are nearly 50 before they finally feel confident.

There's a big difference in the gender divide, too.

Men apparently feel comfortable to speak up and have their own opinions heard a full five years before women (45 years versus 40).

29% of those surveyed think it took retirement to generate the self-confidence they needed in life.

Do you agree with any of this?
