The music-based comedy quiz is coming back to our screens, and boasts a brand new host, along with a new captain and a returning favourite.

An eight-episode series of Never Mind the Buzzcocks, which previously ran on the BBC from 1996 to 2015, will be shown on Sky and NOW from the autumn, and it’s been announced that the Taskmaster himself will be in the main chair. Greg Davies will be the show’s new host, following in the footsteps of former hosts Mark Lamarr, Simon Amstell and Rhod Gilbert.

Noel Fielding will return as one of the team captains, while his new opposing captain will be This Country's Daisy May Cooper. Jamali Maddix will also be a regular panelist. All three have appeared as contestants on Taskmaster, so they will be used to being on the receiving end of their host’s wrath!

In a statement, Greg Davies said, “I have always loved Never Mind the Buzzcocks and am thrilled to be the new host on Sky. We have brilliant comedic talent on the team and plenty of exciting musical guests will be joining us.

“All that being said, I’m so sure that no one reads these press quotes in their entirety that I’m going to finish by listing types of bread: rye, sourdough, sliced white. Oh, and cob.”

Director of Sky Arts and Entertainment for Sky, Phil Edgar-Jones added, “Buzzcocks is one of those truly iconic shows and to be bringing it back with Greg Davies at the helm, alongside Daisy May Cooper, Noel Fielding and Jamali Maddix is a buzz and a treat for lovers of tuneless humming everywhere.”

The exact date that the rebooted show will start has yet to be announced, but we do know that, as well as the regular eight-episode series, there will also be a Christmas special to look forward to.
