Fred Sirieix sends proud tweets as his daughter makes Olympic diving semi-final

It’s not unusual for proud parents to share their kids’ achievements on social media, and First Dates star Fred Sirieix has got very good reason to be doing exactly that, as his 16-year-old is smashing it at the Olympics!

Fred’s daughter, Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix, is currently in Japan, competing as Team GB’s youngest diver, and the TV star has been sending the most wholesome and beautiful tweets in support of Andrea.

Yesterday (August 3rd), ahead of her 10m platform diving event this morning, Fred posted pictures of his Olympian daughter and said, “You are living your dream,” and “We are all with you.”

In normal circumstances, Fred would be poolside supporting his daughter but, as is the case for the majority of families of competitors, he is not able to attend this year’s Olympics in Tokyo due to Covid-19 restrictions. Therefore, like the rest of us, he is forced to watch the drama unfold on television. 

The much-loved maître d' was up early this morning (August 4th) to watch Andrea compete in her event, and would no doubt have been jumping around his living room when she made it through to Thursday’s semi-final. 

Andrea, who was presented with the Young Sports Personality of the Year award on Blue Peter last December, comfortably made it through to the semi in tenth place. Fred marked his daughter’s success with another lovely tweet, saying how proud he is of her.

Fred’s followers on Twitter were quick to add their congratulations. One said, “It was thrilling and nervous to watch - I can’t imagine what it’s like for you!!! We are all sharing in your immense pride.”

Another commented, “She’s soooooo good Fred, your heart must be bursting.”

Someone else said, “Yes Fred!! Proud dad alert.”

It’ll be a late night/early morning for Fred, as the semi final is happening at 2am Thursday, UK time. The final then takes place later the same morning.
