If you’re a fan of Breaking Bad/Malcolm in the Middle legend Bryan Cranston (which, let’s be honest, every single one of us is), you’ll be pleased to learn that you’ll be seeing more of him, because his recent crime series, Your Honor, has been renewed for a second season.

Your Honor was originally set to be a limited series, but it has now been given the green light for a further 10-episodes, with Cranston returning as eternally stressed New Orleans judge Michael Desiato.

Airing on Sky Atlantic, the first season of Your Honor followed widowed, and highly respected, judge Michael Desiato, whose life is plunged into chaos and despair after (and this plot point is kind of a spoiler, although it is in the first season trailer and is basically the premise of the entire series) his teenage son accidentally kills a teenager in a hit-and-run traffic accident. After initially persuading his son to turn himself in, the judge soon changes his mind when he finds out that the victim was the son of a local mafia kingpin (played by Boardwalk Empire's Michael Stuhlbarg). It’s fair to say that Cranston’s character gets himself in a right old pickle trying to dispose of the evidence and protect his son.

Peter Moffat will return as writer, executive producer and showrunner for season two, and filming is set to begin next year, with episodes set to air later in 2022.

Gary Levine, co-president of entertainment for Showtime, told Variety: “We were blown away by ‘Your Honor’… by the power of Peter’s storytelling, by the depth of Bryan’s performance, and by the overwhelming reaction from our subscribers who watched in record numbers.”

He added: “Imagine our delight when we learned that Peter believed he had more story to tell and Bryan felt he had more depths to plumb. So, along with its millions of fans, I am gleefully shouting ‘Encore!’”

Your Honor airs on Showtime in the US, and Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK.
