Cue worldwide excitement. TikTok went potty with the news that iconic singer Dolly Parton had joined the social media site. Sitting down at a keyboard, the star gained over 680,000 in just one day.

The musician then says: “Why hello, I guess I’m on TikTok! I just dropped in to say everything’s gonna be OK, you keep the faith.”

She then goes on to sing to her fans, telling them: "If I can do it, so can you... I believe in you."

"Dolly’s" account, @itsdollyparton gained over a million likes and delighted fans with her appearance - but it wasn't for long.

The profile was soon removed and banned leaving users confused and with a Dolly-shaped hole in their TikTok hearts.

In a statement given to Today, a spokesperson for the legend said the account was fake and had been doctored, therefore removed.

A spokesperson for TikTok also confirmed that the video 'had been removed for violating the platform’s community guidelines around impersonation'.

Fans went mad, writing: "This cured my acne, paid off my debt, healed my psoriasis and fed my soul.”

Another excited customer penned: "DOLLY, YOU CANNOT JUST CASUALLY SHOW UP LIKE THIS. I AM UNDERDRESSED AND UNPREPARED. (sic)”

Maybe she's too busy working 9-5.
