After a week’s enforced break from the dancefloor, Tom Fletcher has confirmed that he’ll be back on Strictly Come Dancing this Saturday.
Following their first performance two weeks ago, the McFly star and his professional dance partner Amy Dowden both tested positive for coronavirus, and consequently they were forced to miss last week’s live show while they self-isolated.
Now though, Tom is back out in the open again, and he has celebrated by sharing some photos of his freedom on his Instagram page.
For the past ten days, the musician has been away from his wife Giovanna Fletcher and three sons, Buzz, Buddy, and Max. But this morning, (October 6th), he shared a selfie with his 2 million Instagram followers, showing him looking very overjoyed at the wheel of his car.
Pumping his fist in the picture, Tom wrote that he was “back on the school drop-off”.

The Instagram Story was soundtracked by Soul II Soul’s Back To Life. He later posted a Story of himself back alongside his dance partner Amy, accompanied by Especially For You by Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan.
Yesterday, Tom posted screenshots of himself and Amy rehearsing remotely from their individual lockdowns. He captioned the photo: “How it started vs how it’s going. Isolation is NOT stopping team #MCFLOWDEN on MOVIE WEEK! Can’t wait to do this dance on Saturday! Giving it everything I’ve got.”
Tom will be returning to the show at the perfect time, as this week’s routine will give him a chance to live out a childhood dream.
The 14 remaining couples will be doing movie-related dances at the weekend, with Tom and Amy performing a jive to Chuck Berry’s Johnny B Goode from the film Back To The Future. As any McFly fan will know, Tom’s band is named after the film’s main character, Marty McFly.
Tom said on Twitter: “I’ve been looking forward to learning to jive since signing up to Strictly so getting to do it dressed as Marty McFly to the movie that changed my life. I’m living my childhood dream Saturday! CAN’T WAIT!”
Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 6.45pm on BBC One.
