There were tears and cheers on another cracking week of Strictly, but who was the latest celeb to pack up their dancing shoes and head home?

Obviously there are spoilers ahead if you haven’t caught up with all the weekend’s action.

Following another great night of dancing on Saturday, the two pairs that faced each other in the dance-off were Adam Peaty and Katya Jones and Tilly Ramsay and Nikita Kuzmin. After the dance-off, the judges chose to eliminate Adam and Katya for their jive to Little Bitty Pretty One by Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers.

The 26-year-old Olympic swimmer said: “I have absolutely loved every single challenge. I’ve never had a challenge like this. As an Olympian for 16 years, I’ve pushed my body to places that I never thought it could be pushed. This is just a whole new ballgame and I’ve got so much respect for everyone that dances across the world and to all of these contestants and pros that put themselves on the line every single week - it’s just been a great experience.”

Meanwhile, professional dancer Katya piled praise on her partner. She said: “After the dance-off, I looked at him and he had tears in his eyes. Someone who’s an absolute unbeatable machine that we see defending his titles for seven years non-stop, being emotional about dancing. I really think you deserve a lot more appreciation for what you’ve done and I was not ready for this.”

Judge Craig Revel Horwood admitted that he wouldn't have put either of the pairs in the bottom two, but given that he had to choose one couple, opted to save Tilly. Motsi Mabuse did the same, as did Anton Du Beke. Shirley Ballas’ vote wasn’t required in the end, but she said she would have chosen Adam.

Elsewhere on the hit BBC show, Shirley was wowed by John Whaite and Johannes Radebe's rumba. She said: “Actually I’m quite moved, I feel really quite emotional after watching that.”

Another couple to impress the judges were AJ Odudu and pro Kai Widdrington, who hit the top of the leaderboard with their Charleston, which gained a near-perfect score of 39 from the judges.

Meanwhile, Giovanni Pernice had fans in tears with his touching words about dance partner Rose Ayling-Ellis. After the pair navigated their way to next week’s show, the professional dancer said: “I might be the dance teacher but this year I’m learning myself new things. This thing is not just about dancing, we spend so much time together. And I’m the one who is privileged to be dancing with you. So, thank you very much.”

Fans took to Twitter to share their love for the pair. One person said. “No you’re crying at what @pernicegiovann1 just said to @RoseAylingEllis! I love them both!”

Another added: “Rose and Giovanni really are a joy to watch. Wonderful people learning and enriching each other’s lives.”

Strictly continues on Saturday evening on BBC One.
