Game of Thrones star, Clive Mantle, has won a whopping £100,000 for charity on Beat the Chasers in one of the biggest wins on the show in recent times.

The actor appeared on Monday night’s show (10 January) with the hopes of raising money for the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain charity- and he certainly didn’t disappoint.

Viewers were on the edge of their seats as Clive, alongside Omid Djalili, Jenny Eclair and Richard Whitehead, went up against some of the best quizzers in the country.

He started off strong by securing £3000 in the cash builder round and, as a result, was offered a range of options, one of them being the chance to win £100,000.

Deciding to risk it all, Clive went for it and faced the five chasers with just 41 seconds on the clock to win the incredible six-figure cash prize.

In a nail-biting round, he managed to beat the chasers with a respectable 14 seconds left.

After his extraordinary win, the actor seemed to get emotional and had to take a minute before saying: “I can’t tell you what that money will do for the youth theatre.”

Host of the show, Bradley Walsh, was equally blown away as he congratulated Clive, saying: “What a performance!”

Clive also impressed the chasers, and Shaun Wallace complimented him on his ‘Oedipus complex’ answer, which he said was the most impressive of the round.

Fans of the show took to social media to share their praise for the actor’s victory, and many said how emotional it made them.

One user wrote: “Wonderful win on #BeatTheChasers with the brilliant #clivemantle for @NYTofGB”.- brought a tear to my eye.”

Another said: “Clive Mantle has always seemed like one of the good guys… and he’s clearly also one of the smart ones. Congrats to @NYTofGB on his #BeatTheChasers win”.

LBC presenter, James O’Brien also got involved, tweeting: “Clive Mantle's rather lovely, isn't he? #BeatTheChasers”.

Clive is probably best known for his role as Lord Greatjon Umber in Game of Thrones. He also appeared in Casualty, Holby City and Vicar of Dibley for that infamous puddle jumping scene.

His win comes after The Chase fans praised Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett’s sweet gesture to a partially blind contestant recently.
