Hey all you cool cats and kittens - here's a brand new look at the re-imagining of Tiger King on the small screen.
Sky has revealed the first official trailer for Joe vs Carole, the scripted adaptation based on the podcast titled Joe Exotic: Tiger King. The audio series analysed the events which took place in the lockdown-binge-worthy Netflix series of the same name.
The eight-part limited series is based on the real-life events and dangerous rivalry between Carole Baskin and Joe ‘Exotic’ Maldonado-Passage and the two big cat parks in between them.
In the trailer, Saturday Night Live star Kate McKinnon completely transforms into the Big Cat Rescue boss, unmistakable with her loud leopard print clothes and long blonde hair.
The start of the teaser appears to show police officers showing up at Carole’s door to discuss Joe’s behaviour, in which she describes him as a ‘psychopath who wants me dead’.
John Cameron Mitchell looks unrecognisable as Joe Exotic himself, dressed in sparkling sequin shirts and sporting the blonde mullet and cowboy hat that made him unforgettable.
The two minute clip promises fans a chance to ‘discover the untold origin of America’s wildest feud’ and ‘the sensational story that gripped America was only half the tale.’
Alongside Kate is Twin Peaks legend Kyle MacLachlan as Carole’s husband Howard Baskin, and 30 Rock’s Dean Winters as Jeff Lowe, who went on to buy Joe’s big cat zoo Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park before it closed for good.
Joe vs Carole will land on 4th March with all eight episodes available to watch.
Meanwhile, in November, the real Carole Baskin released her side of the story on another new discovery+ series.
The show portrayed her point of view of the Tiger King story, by looking into her fight for animal rights and big cat protection.
In a statement about the project, Baskin said: “This is a unique opportunity for audiences to come ‘behind the scenes’ with us for an unfiltered look at how we expose the cub petting exploiters and roadside zoos we feel are mistreating animals.”
All eight episodes of Joe vs Carole will be available to stream on Peacock from 4 March, exclusively on Sky and NOW.
