British TV star Patrick Murray has said his lung cancer is “cured” and the tumour discovered in his liver is “shrinking” after treatment.
Murray played Mickey Pearce in the iconic sitcom Only Fools And Horses and announced his diagnosis earlier this year.
He revealed scans had found a cancerous tumour in his lung, which he had an operation to remove along with chemotherapy.
Further scans found another tumour in his liver that was not connected to his lung cancer and was also treatable.
Murray said he was being treated with Tace, or transcatheter arterial chemoembolization, which uses a combination of chemotherapy and other medicines to restrict blood supply to the tumour.
In an update posted to Twitter, the actor said he was “over the moon” to announce that his treatment seemed to be working.
He said: "Thanks again for all your lovely messages. As you may know, I was diagnosed with lung cancer last July.
"After an op in Oct to remove the tumour I had chemo to help prevent the cancer returning. During this chemo, another tumour was discovered in my liver.
"Luckily for me this cancer was unconnected to the lung cancer and was also treatable. I had a procedure called Tace to deal with this.
"Last Friday l saw my oncologist. She told me the lung cancer was cured and that the tumour in my liver was shrinking.
"It's not over yet, but as you can imagine I am over the moon with this latest news."
We wish Patrick Murray a very speedy recovery!
This comes after Sir David Jason revealed he would definitely be up for playing the infamous Del Boy again for an Only Fools And Horses reboot.
Sir David told The Sun: "I’ve always loved Del Boy, who is such a wonderful loser. I would love to revisit him, I need someone to write me a script.
As a show it’s very important we don’t forget about it, it has a huge following, it fills in that need for an awful lot of people."
