Great news from here in the UK for awareness of Tourette's Syndrome as a TV presenter with Tourettes makes a first-of-it’s-kind documentary about it. Say hello to the inspiring Aidy Smith, presenter of The Three Drinkers series on Amazon TV.

Aidy is one of only a few known media personalities with the condition and on a mission to normalise and de-stigmatize it.

“Tourettes is arguably the most misrepresented and misunderstood disability on the planet” says Aidy, “the lack of awareness and continued stigmatisation has resulted in this being the only disability  both the general public and comedians feel they have a green card to openly mock, which is absolutely soul-destroying”. Most people think it’s a swearing thing, which Aidy is keen to correct, “it might surprise you to learn that only 10% of people with Tourettes do that”  - 90% don’t! Lovely Aidy and my gorgeous niece Poppy are in that 90% and they’re both superhuman people who feed into a narrative I’ve always helped build that neuro-diversity can be a super-power, not a disability. Good news from the rooftops of Europe as a new movement of rooftop gardens and green spaces gathers momentum.

As i look out across the city of London from the 17th floor of the News Tower, I can see more and more roof gardens sprouting up. There are square miles of unused potential green spaces all over Europe as we look to clean our air, sequester CO2 and improve our mental health, all things a rooftop garden can do.

The European Creative Rooftop Network is helping to connect and promote business, building owners and developers to think about their rooftops and use them to connect people in the community. Rooftop community centres, gig venues, bars, exhibition species, social hubs of all kinds are sprouting in cities from Berlin to Barcelona and from Antwerp to Amsterdam.

Many rooftops are private, or for employees only, but if you like the idea of visiting more and more public roof spaces, there’s a brilliant site that gathers them all together, ‘Rooftopedia’ ! so you could go on an extended rooftop tour of Europe!
