Daniel Radcliffe reckons Brits make the best bad guys when it comes to making movies.

The Harry Potter star picked up the Best Villain prize at the MTV Movie and TV Awards for his portrayal of maniacal billionaire Abigail Fairfax in The Lost City.

Daniel beat the likes of Colin Farrell and Willem Dafoe for the accolade, and while appearing virtually to accept his MTV gong, the actor thanked his parents for a rather surprising reason.

In his speech, Daniel said: “If I’m being honest the thing that makes my job easiest is just being English.

“This is the universally recognised accent of pure evil… a voice that would kick a puppy, or not give Oliver Twist more food.

“So I really should thank my parents the most for having the foresight all those years ago to have me be British so I could grow up to sound naturally evil and one day claim this award. So thank you, mum and dad.”

It’s not the first time Daniel has shared his love of being a bad guy. He previously told virginradio.co.uk that he was ‘nice to not have to be relatable’ while at the London special screening earlier this year.

Elsewhere in the show, Jack Black performed some impressive gymnastics while picking up his Comedic Genius Award.

Not only did he have the fans in stitches with his somersaults to the stage (while dressed as a panda, obviously), but Jack also gave a heartwarming speech in the way only Jack Black can.

While accepting his prize, Jack said: “Comedic genius? C’mon, are you kidding? For what?”

“My sweet dance moves on TikTok? What are we talking about? It’s ridiculous! I don’t deserve this, but I will take it!

“Thank you MTV! This is for all the School of Rock-ers out there and for all the Tenacious disciples and most of all my amazing wife Tanya and our two incredible boys. I love you, I love you, I love you.”

Teen drama Euphoria was the big winner on the night, walking away with four awards, including Best Show and Best Performance for Zendaya.

Spider-Man: No Way Home picked up Best Movie, and Jennifer Lopez added yet another statue to her trophy cabinet with her Generation Award.
