Even though season three of Breeders has only just dropped, the great news is that the hit Sky comedy will be coming back for a fourth outing.
When co-creator Chris Addison and one of its stars, Daisy Haggard, joined the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky to talk about season three last week, Chris said: “We don’t feel like we’ve come to the end of our story by the end of this season.”
He added: “We were only going to do three, but because we stayed in this timeline longer, we haven’t finished the story off.”
And now it’s been confirmed that the parenting comedy, starring Martin Freeman and Daisy, has been officially renewed by Sky and FX for a fourth season.
Season three started in the aftermath of dad Paul (played by Martin) being punched by his teenage son Luke, while Ally found herself increasingly estranged from Ava while also going through the early menopause.
Speaking on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky about her character, Daisy said: “She snaps a bit. She’s trying to regain control and keep the family together, and in the process, she struggles with her relationship with her daughter, Ava. That gets quite complicated, but she’s swimming upstream a little bit.”
Celebrating news of the fourth season, Chris Addison - who was in The Thick of It, and also directed episodes of Veep - wrote on Twitter: “Oh yeah, baby! We get to make them suffer some more! The first three times we made them suffer are available for viewing on @Hulu in the States and @SkyComedy and @NOWTV in the UK.”
Meanwhile, Zai Bennett, MD of Content at Sky UK & Ireland said: “This uniquely honest and hilariously entertaining comedy about the pitfalls of parenting really strikes a chord with UK audiences… We’re in for a treat and thanks to Avalon and FX for continuing our partnership to see what’s next for the Worsley family.”
Seasons 1-3 of Breeders are available to watch now via Sky and NOW.
