Thrifty good news from here in the UK as the average electricity bill has fallen by £22 a month because people are making lots of little changes that together add up to a lot!

Five thousand British adults took part in this survey and the results are useful to say the least! Nearly 30% of them have said this is the first summer they’ve made a conscious effort to change how they use power and with bills skyrocketing, this can only be a good thing.

Top tips from those who’ve saved, 39% of people now switch off stuff that’s always on, phone chargers and the like…almost half switch unused lights off, 38% are now hanging their washing outside instead of using a drier and 26% are letting their hair dry naturally instead of using a hair dryer (I’ve been doing that since the 1980’s!). According to the Smart Energy people who commissioned the report, the average household could save the lion's share of £300 a year on their energy bills just by thinking about stuff like this, and that could not be more welcome right now :)

Heartwarming and inspiring news from here in the UK as a pair of friends who’ve met in a photobooth every five years since they were eight years old have celebrated their fiftieth anniversary as mates and guess where they celebrated!?

Say hello to Keith and Martin who are inspiring the whole world now with their enduring friendship. They became bezzie mates at just 8 in Bardney, Lincolnshire, and cemented that friendship with a photo in a booth at Lincoln Station. They say they’re just two normal guys who haven’t done anything spectacular or catastrophic, but they’ve kept their friendship going come what may. Every five years, they’ve met up in the same place and taken a photo in that booth.

Despite the fact Martin now lives in London and Keith still lives in Bardney, they always manage to get together and reminisce about the past five years, “We don’t live in each other’s pockets or have to talk every week—it’s just a friendship that’s stood the test of time.” and the photos of them from eight to, now 60, laughing and pulling faces in a photo booth, are heart warming to say the least.
