We’re officially in the final four weeks of Virgin Radio Pride, but there is still so much to look forward to as we head into August!
This week's Big Conversation is all about podcasts! We’re looking at the ever-increasing number of podcasts available for the LGBTQ+ community, and why they are so important for so many people.
Tonight at 6pm (Monday 1st August), Savage Garden frontman Darren Hayes joins Steve Denyer for My Pride Playlist.
Aussie singer Darren will share stories from his Savage Garden days, meeting Madonna, and how he came to terms with his own sexuality, as well as some stellar music choices.
Tasha Walker and Adam Zmith are back looking through the records of LGBT+ helpline Switchboard with another episode of The Logbooks on Tuesday (2nd August).
In this episode, the hosting duo hear stories from the people who pioneered queer family-making. They also catch-up with some from the community who have their own experiences and opinions on what queer family means to them today.
On Wednesday (3rd August) we revisit the incredible documentary by It’s A Sin star David Carlyle - Getting Out.
It's estimated that 127,000 people in the UK are homeless, over half of those are young people aged between 16 and 25, and a quarter of those identify as LGBTQ+.
David, who played Gregory ‘Gloria’ Finch in Russell T Davies’ Channel 4 drama, came across this staggering statistic when he was filming the show and it inspired him to make a two-part series investigating the reasons behind the stats.
Sitting down on Matt Cain Meets on Thursday (4th August) is Welsh journalist and author Paul Burston.
Paul will share stories from his incredible career in activism. As well as being a founding editor of Attitude magazine, he has written for many publications including the Guardian, Time Out, The Times and The Sunday Times as well as being the founder of the Polari Prize for new and established LGBTQ+ writing.
This weekend, Stephen Sullivan is back on Saturday and Sunday at 6am for Drag Breakfast. Mr Showbiz, Crossey, will hear from the biggest celeb names from 6pm on Saturday (6th August), and Matt Cain will be back on Quite A Queer Conversation alongside fiance Harry Glasstone.
They will chat about their first impressions of each other, celebrities that helped in their gay awakening, the most romantic things they have ever done and so much more.
Emma Goswell will also explore this week’s Big Conversation on Sunday (7th August) at 7pm. This week Emma is joined by the hosts of The Bottoming Podcast and Gossip Gays.
