It seems that 2022 is the year of the themed wedding.

Would you go with a scheme for your nuptials? Whether you're a dedicated Disney fan or love Lord Of The Rings, there's something for everyone.

Four in ten Brits have attended a themed wedding ceremony, and they are only increasing in popularity.

Move over finger sandwiches and sausage rolls, as one in five (21%) have been served takeaway food at a reception.

The poll asked 2,000 adults about themed weddings and their feelings about them.

Some 29% would like to attend a “fantasy wedding”, based on Lord of the Rings, Star Trek, or Game of Thrones.

Peperami carried out the research, and said while the idea is good in theory many people won't go through with it.

They found eight in ten (79%) would stick to more usual wedding conventions.

However, nearly half (44%) think being invited to a themed wedding would make great memories or be a great laugh, and an amusing story to tell their friends.

Pavan Chandra, from Peperami, said: “As the summer months continue to be crowded with weddings, many of us find it a bit dull to attend these formulaic ceremonies – so it’s no wonder a theme would make it a more memorable and enjoyable day.

“While weddings are centred around the bride and groom, they are also about giving their guests an exciting, unforgettable, and entertaining wedding experience, sharing their big day with their loved ones.

“The research has shown there’s certainly an appetite for something a bit more unique and expressive of the couple's personality.”

More than half (54%) admitted they aren't keen on attending weddings altogether.

Reasons given included not wanting to socialise with people they don’t know, not looking forward to the long day ahead, or thinking the wedding will be dull and boring.
