Taylor Hawkins’ son Shane will join the likes of Liam Gallagher and Brian May in the line-up for the London tribute concerts.
Following the death of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, his family and bandmates announced they would be putting on two big tribute concerts dedicated to the musician and his life.
The first will be taking place at Wembley Stadium in London on 3rd September, with the second being in Los Angeles at the Kia Forum on 27th September.
A variety of big acts have been announced to play the gigs, including Nile Rogers, Liam Gallagher, Brian May and Mark Ronson, and now Taylor’s son Shane Hawkins will also be on the bill.
Shane plays the drums like his father, and it is expected he will do a set with the instrument during the concert.
It won’t be the first time he has paid homage to his late father either.
Last month, the 16-year-old joined the band The Alive during their performance from a roof in the Laguna Beach neighbourhood to play a cover of the infamous Foo Fighters song My Hero.
In video posted to TikTok, the caption reads: “When Taylor Hawkins’ son gets on the drums and dedicates the song ‘My Hero’ to his dad. The hawk would’ve been proud.”
The Alive also posted a video to Instagram to capture the moment and wrote: “Thanks to the Laguna Beach community, police (for not shutting us down), @spliffriff_ and the @marcusskenderian family. Special thanks to @shane_hawkins_22 for sitting in.”
The Taylor Hawkins tribute concert at Wembley Stadium will be streamed live via Paramount+ in the US and MTV YouTube channels globally, with on-demand footage airing on the Paramount streaming service around the world after the show has wrapped.
A one-hour London special will also air from 4th September, with an extended two-hour special being released on MTV channels later in the month.
